Last Saturday, September 14, was a very fun day! The weather was perfect for spending a day out at Silver Lake at the Apple & BBQ Cook-Off Festival, sunny and seasonably warm, without much wind to blow things around. I spent all day slicing Honeycrisp (mom), Zestar! (dad), and SweeTango(R) (child) apples for free samples for festival attendees.
Kate Sage, Michigan Apple Queen 1st runner-up, came to the festival this year! She graced our booth for a while, and helped pass out apple slice samples. I hope to be able to see her on the video that was filmed on Saturday, & is now in the production room getting edited & ready for release on YouTube (hopefully)! Be looking for it! I plan to send out a newsletter after its release, with a link to it, so sign up for the newsletter on our website!
It was fun to see people who were introduced to SweeTango(R) apples at the festival in past years! A number of them came again, specifically to get SweeTango(R) apples! Good news for those of you who missed this opportunity–we should have our SweeTango(R) apples at our market through the month of October! With the good apple crop, and maturing trees, you should also be able to find SweeTango(R) apples in many areas of the country. Check at www.sweetango.com or on their Facebook page for more information.
